Novel
I would one day like to write and publish a novel. My ambitions aren't too great, I would just like to see my book at my library - with plenty of patrons checking it out. : ) Here is a small sample of something I've come up with. It's so hard for me to finish my writings, though, because nothing ever sounds good enough to me. Or I don't know where I'm goiing with it. Oh well, what do you think?
The steady beat of rain outside echoes in the corners of the empty apartment. Bare of everything but a wrought-iron bed, the sounds shift throughout, playing among the dust and shadows. There is a strained feeling inside this space. A stillness, like the last moment of immobility before explosive action is taken, fills the vacant room.
