Booth Results

So I had my first Frost Fest Booth yesterday and it was a good/bad experience that I learned a lot from. It all started the night before when I gathered all my stuff to sell and saw exactly how much I had accumulated... holy crap. I had lots of decoupaged image jars and hand painted snowflake liquid soap dispensers and magnets and all sorts of stuff...

So Lindsey and I drove to the park at 4 pm to set up, which turned out to be a crazy experience. I had to drive over the curb and drive along the cement trail to get to the set up place. I cannot describe how odd it felt driving along the trail, especially when there was this old lady who, instead of being smart and moving OFF the trail, just kept walking and I had to drive a little off the trail so I didn't run her butt over... pretty funny!

Anways, so we got everything set up and my sister joined us and we sat there in the semi-cold and watched as people avoided our eye-contact or smiled and ran for it. LOL it was pretty amusing. My goal yesterday was to make $100 (but my secret goal was to sell it all and make $300, hehe) but my final total was $76 and an ear infection. Yup, an ear infection courtesy of the wind and cold last night. My poor ear... But I am pretty proud of the booth results (aside from the ear thing). And to think, most of that money was from the hand-painted glass penguin magnets that I made as little bonus items for $1. How funny.... Oh well, I plan to sell the rest of the stuff in our etsy store, which Lindsey and I will have up soon. I'll let ya'll know when its up and operational!!! Here are some pics of yesterday as a bonus:

Fingerless Gloves

I've been knitting like crazy recently - and it's all been just one pattern. Fingerless Gloves!!! They're knit of two straight needles and seamed up the sides. So far I've made 3 pairs, which means I only have 13 more pairs to go (I'm knitting a pair for everyone at the library and some other friends). Lots of work but they turn out soooo cute.

3 New Fish

Well, Mom and I were out shopping and we decided to stop in at PetCo and look at the fish they had. We found a tank full of smaller African Cichlids (which is what RAWR is) so we decided to get Ria some new ones. And we figured that since they were the same type as RAWR, he wouldn't be so vicious towards them. At first we were only going to get the 2 big ones but after some debate and feeling bad for the little one who would have been left alone, we purchased all 3.

We named them Moose (a beautiful yellow one), Titus (a medium blue one), and Dinky (a small, dinky blue one) and they are all adorable. Even RAWR loves them :)

RIP Itchy

RAWR strikes once again... poor Itchy (my favorite one) died a couple of days ago. He got into a fight with RAWR and then got sucked into the filter. It's sad...

Man, I can't have fish. Every little death is so tragic to me. :( RIP Itchy. We loved you!

RIP Twitchy

Man, Ria's fish are dying pretty quick - though this time we think that Twitchy (who was a bit of a bully) rubbed RAWR the wrong way, so they may have gotten into a fight and RAWR killed him... poor thing. Now all that's left is One-Eyed Bob, Itchy (my favorite one), and RAWR. I hope no one else goes on the Porcelain Express to Fishy Heaven.

New Fish and A Funny Video (hopefully)

You know how it goes, unproductive for a few days and then Boom - 2-4 posts one after the other on the same day! Heh, that's life...

Anyways, here are two pics of Ria's new fish. The first one is RAWR. I always want to call him Grrrr for some reason -_-? He's a quick little thing so this pic isn't that great.

And Bob, who's a sucker fish. His back-story (is that what you call it?) is half funny, half sad. He only has one eye (we say Ria is cursed with one-eyed fish - with him and Molly) so we call him One-Eyed Bob. Too bad PetCo and PetSmart don't sell tiny pirate hats cause I'd totally get him one!

And now for the funny video... if it loads (stupid slow, old compy - just wait til Tax Return time!)
I'll get back to this once I can cut the video down to proper size. FINALLY it's done! So the back story (again with that word) to this clip is that Isa was over one Sunday and we were all playing with playdough when I noticed her humming a Christmas carol. So I told her to sing one and after mixing up my song lyrics and title, mom jumped in and did a little dance while singing Jingle Bells - hilarious! It was so funny that my steady camera hand was, well, not so steady. Sorry...

They're FISH!!!!!

Hello! Maria got her fish today! Their names are Twitchy (big male), Itchy (little male), and Molly (little female). Ria wanted baby fishes so she asked the attendant to grab both sexes, and here they are:

And here is my first experiment with video uploading on my blog. I hope it works: nope, it didn't work... I'll try again later...

Black Friday

Ria, Tyran, Betty and I braved the crowds at 4am at Target so we could get $3 coffee makers and sandwhich cookers and my camera, on sale for $129. I LOVE my new camera - it even takes videos with sound!!! :) Unbelievable! It has sooo many options, I adore it!

So, here is my story about the camera. At around 1am, Tyran and I noticed that people had already begun to line up at Target and we weren't going to get there til 4am. Needless to say, there was a HUGE line when we finally arrived. Tyran and I waited in the elctronics line while Ria and Betty went for the appliances. We waited an hour to get up to the counter - and I had been told earlier by a store associate that they only had 4 of my camers at the beginning so I was a little worried. But luck was on my side and I got the last one! I've been enjoying it ever since!
Here is one of the first pics I took (she was tired, lol):

And here is a pic of Ria's big Christmas present (early, I know):

No fish yet, we're hoping to get some on Wednesday after her pH levels are right. Other than all that, I've been good. I'll post more pics later and I'll even try to add some videos later! :)

Tussaud's Wax Museum Pics

Tussaud's Wax Museum was located to the left of Ripley's and though it wasn't as good as Ripley's, we did have fun molesting the wax figures.
Here are the pics:

Tyran and Ria molesting Johnny Depp. Well, guess we know who likes to kiss with their eyes closed and who does it with their eyes open... heh.

Oprah comforts Tyran...

Dr. Phil helps out Betty...

And Ria becomes the 8th Dwarf - NotSoBrighty (lmao)

Even though some of the wax figures were horrifying, we had a blast. Next trip is the Natural Bridge Caverns (or something like that) in San Antonio. Then I'd like to hike at Enchanted Rock and camp at Big Bend and gamble at Shreveport... oh yeah, I've got the travel bug! :)

Austin and San Antonio!

Well, its been a heck of a month! I've been on 2 big trips this month - the first was to Inner Space Caverns and the Outlet Mall in Austin, and the second was to San Antonio, where we saw the Alamo, Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, Louis Tussaud's Plaza Wax Museum, and the Mexican Market Square!

Here are pics of Inner Space Caverns. I went with Ria, Betty, Jeanine, Nikki, and Nathan. We stopped for breakfast at IHOP and then on we went to the caverns.

Here is a pic of all of us together (except me cause I'm taking the picture, lol). From left to right: Ria, Jeanine, Nikki, Nathan, and Betty.

Here is a picture of a part of the caverns (my camera sucks in low-light, so this was the best one out of all 300... yes, 300)

All throughout the tour, they compared everything to food - the bats were called hairy flying chicken nuggets, there were old shrimp homes, cave bacon (below), ice cream, and so much more!

These are some of the pics from Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum.

The history books lied - it was actually Ria who sank the Titanic. Oooooohhhhh, no I didn't! :P

This guy could swallow his own nose - ewwww... He and Ria got along quite well, lol.

This crocodile was just hanging from the roof so I took a pic from the 2nd floor. When we finally made it to the 3rd floor, I read that this croc was about 15ft long and he ate children and dogs.

I will post the pics from Tussaud's Wax Museum on the next post, so look forward to that.

We had a wonderful time at each place! Man, after such a busy few weeks, who wouldn't appreciate the return to their daily pace?! :)

I've been busy

doing nothing.... Yup, nothing at all but worrying about this play I'm setting up with the teens, getting everything ready for the Halloween Hoopla, making packets, sending off emails, getting press releases together, gathering up my United Way donation items, planning Monday's movie, and a whole buncha stuff for work.

Yes, I am extremely tired. And I have 2 (2!) dentists appts this week to almost finish up all my dental work... Ugh.

Anyways, this weeked was chock full of stuff I had to do (some happily, some not). I had to work on Friday, dinner at Jeanine's Friday night, the Halloween Hoopla thing on Saturday evening, then a movie and pizza at Betty's and Billy's on Saturday night, and Sunday I went to WalMart with Tyran and had dinner with her... man, I'm beat!

And it's lunch time and I'm hungry :(

OOOOOHHHHHHHH, That looks sooo good

It's Sunday evening

Following the Sunday evening tradition Betty, Billy, Tyran, Ria, and myself had dinner and a movie. We had chicken fajitas with spanish rice and watched My Life in Ruins, a cute (not exactly B, more like A--) movie about a woman who had no Kefi - which in Greece means spirit or luck.

She tries so hard to live life that she forgets to just live. She meets Poupi (yes, Poupi... Poupi Kakas), who is the bus driver, and he shows her with just a few words and a lot of simple but meaningful gestures how much life can mean... especially when you have someone to share it with.

It was a wonderful evening, we all found ourselves laughing uproariously at all the jokes in the movie and the mistakes Georgia made as she tried to find her Kefi. Dinner was good and the company was even better - it was a perfect way to end the weekend. Here's wishing Tyran good Kefi at her new job tomorrow!

Good night,

Rose

Posting Painted Pics

My creative energies have taken me to a different craft - painting. I've been getting ready for Christmas and these are just a few of the things I have painted. They are really in no particular order and I'm very proud of them - faults and all!

Warning: The picture quality sucks as I need to get a new camera :P

My little girl angel (as you can tell, I painted over her face...a lot)
My little boy angel

My snowflakes

My ornaments

My Santa (I gave him to Ria and she loved him!)

And my Snow picture frame

All in all, I've had fun painting these things! Oh, and about Paranormal Activity... it sucked. It was soo stupid. Yes, there were some scary parts but the ending was so dumb - I didn't lose any sleep over it. But I have sometimes thought about the movie while I was alone in a room or driving - the 'what ifs'... o.o lol

My birthday bash!

My family got together tonight to celebrate my birthday (but we were missing my dad who was at a fishing tournament and my sister who was at a concert). We had a nice time :)

This was my cake that my mom made (I decorated it with these cute little yellow stars)!

This is part of my family, chillin on the couch. Look at those silly faces!

This is Sheryl's ugly mug up close! Heh!

And this is a small view from my front porch. It's really nice during the fall, with the cool breeze and the beautiful leaf colors!

Happy Brithday Me and Michelle!!!!!

Yes, by the title and the picture, you can tell today is my (and Michelle's) birthday and I am ready to celebrate! I can't wait for my cake tonight - I'll take pics of it! :)

P.S. If you can't tell already, I love power point and clip art! ;P

Excuse Me... Nurse

Look out sick peple, the nurse from you-know-where is here. This is my little sister Ria decked out in her student scrubs!

I left her red eyes alone because I thought it was funny... and somewhat ironic! heh :P

Since I was so productive this week...

Well, as promised, here are the pics of the baby blanket, baby whale toy, baby washcloths, and baby hat (crocheted) I knitted.

Phew! Man, am I beat from all that knitting! But I got a nice $50 check and lots of oohs and aahs over my stuff.
Here's hoping to more orders from those people :)

Play Day with Isa

My neice Isa and I had a Play Doh Play Date a while back and I thought I might post the pictures here.

There are only 3: Isa playing, my creatures, and lunch (or is it...)

Isa playing at the kitchen table (the pics are kinda dark)

My animal creations

And lunch...

We had a lot of fun that day! Man, I wish polymer clay was easier to work with cause I'd totally make things to sell on Etsy!!!!
